Chris Cordova

By FP1 Strategies

FP1 has a talented in-house team of motion graphics editors who help us provide 24/7 editing capabilities to our political clients. In this installment of “Meet Our Production Pros,” we’re showcasing the contributions of Chris Cordova. A Senior Director at FP1, Chris has been promoted three times since joining our firm. During his young career, Chris has developed new skills quickly and increased his role and voice in our creative process.

Chris Cordova is a talented storyteller and editor with expertise in color correction. He serves like an air traffic controller, ensuring the seamless coordination of our entire post-production process. Chris also manages the storage of our shoot footage and organizes our b-roll drive with a library of thousands of cinematic clips for deployment in future ads. Chris reviews every frame of the live-action footage we shoot and cuts together the best takes for our team of editors. With multiple election cycles under his belt, Chris has developed a deep reservoir of institutional memory and is a vital member of our production team.

“I rely on Chris every day. He always responds to our production challenges quickly and with a positive attitude,” said Partner Trent Wisecup. “I am impressed by Chris’ professional growth and appreciative of his professionalism and commitment to our business. He is a strong manager, a smart creative person and a great team member.”

“Chris is quickly developing into a first-rate motion graphics editor in the political and public affairs arena,” said Managing Director Nick Gay. “He’s a great colorist, a talented graphics man and someone who intuitively understands the emotional power of video advertising. I’m glad he’s advancing his career with us.”

What’s your alma mater?

I graduated from the College of William and Mary. Go Tribe!

What do you like best about working at FP1?

The best thing about working at FP1 is the team. You can count on everyone on our production team to not only do their job but do it with an open mind and a good attitude. Even when we are at our busiest, the standards never change. I firmly believe that this production team can move mountains if it means getting the job done.

What’s your favorite editing project at FP1?

My favorite editing projects to work on are our Year-in-Review videos. They’re very different from our usual edits so they allow me to flex some different creative muscles and even try techniques or animations I’ve never used before. It’s also fun to see all the photos from the past year that my coworkers send to be included in the video to relive some of the wins we’ve had, which are many.

What’s your favorite podcast?

My go-to podcast right now is “Conan O’Brian Needs a Friend.” I’ve been a big Conan fan ever since he hosted “Late Night.” It never fails to be a good interview and hilarious at the same time.

What’s the last book you read?

The last book I read was “The Creative Gene” by Hideo Kojima. It gives great insight into Kojima’s inspirations and approach to creating some of his iconic video games.

What’s your favorite movie?

This has always been a tough question for me but I’m going to go with “Back to the Future.” Marty McFly will forever be the coolest character put on screen. This movie is the reason why I skateboard.

Favorite thing to do on a Saturday?

My favorite thing to do on a Saturday is go to an early afternoon movie with friends. I love going to the movies in general, but this leaves so much room for activities after.

What’s your go-to restaurant in the D.C. area?

China Chilcano has to be my go-to restaurant. Peruvian-Chinese fusion is unbeatable.

If you could have dinner with one historical figure, who’d it be and why?

I would have dinner with Mark Twain. I feel like it would be a night full of great stories.
