Meet Our Production Pros
Lyukai Nomura

Lyukai started his career path at FP1 as an intern in 2022. Now working as an associate, Lyukai spearheads our proofing process, providing quality assurance on our television and digital ads, direct mail pieces and other client written materials and proposals. Last cycle, FP1 produced and shipped over 1,500 ads. Lyukai helped manage the proofing of all these spots with an eye for detail and a positive attitude. He’s also an expert on FEC disclaimer requirements and election regulations impacting our clients.

Recently, Lyukai has been sharpening his political consulting skills by assisting Partner Mike Young and Managing Director Dylan Lefler with their general consulting responsibilities. Lyukai also helps our leadership team in the new business process by getting materials ready for client pitches.

“Lyukai has a great attitude and a team-oriented mindset,” said FP1 Partner Mike Young. “He is effectively using the beginning years of his career to master his operational skills. Those early lessons will serve him well as he broadens his responsibilities at the firm. I look forward to working with Lyukai this year on our legislative races in Virginia. He’s earned the right to take on some new challenges.”

“As an intern, Lyukai made an immediate impression on me,” said Managing Director Mariah Wood. “He is hardworking, funny and supportive of his fellow team members. The proofing job is a tough one, and too often a thankless responsibility, but it is really important to FP1’s reputation. Lyukai has stepped up to this challenge. He put his shoulder to the wheel and helped work with his team members to keep our ads spotless and mistake free. I look forward to working with Lyukai for years to come and helping him develop professionally at FP1.”

What’s your alma mater?

The great Virginia Tech. Go Hokies!

What do you like best about working at FP1?

The best thing about working at FP1 is that there is never a dull moment. Whether I’m working on interesting projects, proofing incredible ads or talking with coworkers, there’s never a time when I don’t enjoy what I do.

What’s your favorite FP1 ad?

My favorite ad that we’ve done at FP1 was a Ron Johnson ad called “Planet Earth.” I first saw this spot during my internship in the 2022 cycle, and it still sticks out to this day as my favorite with its creativity and use of humor to get the message across.

What’s your favorite podcast?

My favorite podcast to listen to is The Basement Yard. It’s run by a couple guys named Joe Santagato and Frank Alvarez, who are hilarious, especially when they misunderstand each other.

What’s the last book you read?

I’m currently reading a novel by Brandon Sanderson called The Way of Kings. It’s the first in a series of other very long books, but I already can’t wait to get started on the next!

 What’s your favorite movie?

The Lord of the Rings trilogy in its entirety is by far the greatest work of cinema ever created. However, my favorite stand-alone movie would have to be either Interstellar or The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a Saturday?

There’s nothing better than hitting the golf course on a nice Saturday or going out and having a good time with friends.

If you could have dinner with one historical figure, who’d it be and why?

Teddy Roosevelt. I’d want to have dinner with the Bull Moose not only because he was president but because he led a very interesting life. He started a cattle farm in South Dakota because he liked the lifestyle, resigned as the assistant Secretary of the Navy to fight in the Spanish-American War, returned and ran for governor of New York, became the vice president, then the president. Immediately after leaving office, he led an expedition in Africa. Just imagine the stories he could tell.
