Meet Our Production Pros
Jacob Buckley

 By FP1 Strategies

In this installment of “Meet Our Production Pros,” we’re featuring the contributions of Jacob Buckley. Jacob is an Associate and one of our newest team members. In his short time at FP1, Jacob has already made a big impact. He’s part of our proofing team and he assists in our new business process, working closely with partners and managing directors to get all our materials in order for big pitches.

Jacob has shown a strong proclivity for doing political research. He is preparing detailed backgrounders on key races as part of our new business process and he’s also researching video clips and other elements that are making it into our advertising. We’re expecting big things from Jacob this election cycle.

“Jacob has that rare mix of hustle, curiosity, and attention to detail that makes someone stand out early. He was instrumental during pitch season, and now that we’re heading into the next cycle with new clients, I’m excited to put his skills to work” says Director Mattie Beckis. “Jacob’s exactly the kind of teammate you want beside you heading into a tough cycle. He’s got a strong future here.”

 What’s your alma mater?

Louisiana State University. Geaux Tigers!

What was the atmosphere like at Death Valley on a Saturday night?

Indescribable. After a whole day of tailgating, 100,000 Louisianians get loud and rambunctious. The best game I saw under the lights was LSU versus Alabama in 2022. LSU converted a two-point attempt in overtime to beat the Tide, then almost all those fans stormed the field. It was an unforgettable moment. Honestly, it’s something you have to experience because words do not do it justice.

What do you like best about working at FP1?

The best thing about working at FP1 is the environment. Our team is spectacular, and politics is ever-changing, so there is always something new to dive into. The most rewarding moment is when a piece of research I do makes it into an ad or a line of messaging.

What’s your favorite podcast?

While I don’t listen to podcasts, my go-to YouTube channel to watch is Epicurious. While I am a terrible cook, I enjoy watching people who actually know how to cook. They have a series where a professional chef and a home cook swap recipes and ingredients, then proceed to try and make each other’s dish. It’s always an interesting watch.

What’s the last book you read?

The last book I read was Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey. His memoir dives into a lot of different topics and provides some insight and wisdom from the rollercoaster of McConaughey’s life. In my opinion, it is quite alright, alright, alright.

What’s your favorite movie?

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is my favorite movie of all time. I pretty much watched it once a week growing up and could recite almost all of it by heart.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a Saturday?

After I start the day off right by sleeping in, I like to have a drink with my dad and watch whatever sports are on, preferably a Nats or a Caps game.

If you could have dinner with one historical figure, who’d it be and why?

Richard Nixon. I took a biographical class on him in college and left with more questions than answers. If I could sit down with him and just pick his brain about Watergate, we’d probably need a five-course meal, and that’s just one thing he did in his lifetime. He served in the Navy during World War II, was a member on the infamous House Un-American Committee, went to the USSR and debated with Nikita Khrushchev about economics as Vice President, emerged from the political wilderness in 1968 and was elected President, and these are only a few of his notable moments in history.
